BULKING OF SAND TEST
BULKING OF SAND TEST
AIM:
§ This procedure covers the test method for the determination of the approximate volumes occupied by sand in a damp condition and when saturate.
§ This
method of test covers the field method for determining the necessary adjustment
for the bulking of fine aggregate.
APPARATUS REQUIRED:
1. Measuring jar 250ml
2. Potable Water
SAMPLE:
The cement taken should be finely ground material which of addition of requisite quantity of water is capable of hardening both under water and in air by the chemical interaction of its constituents with water and capable of binding together the appropriate materials. (Reference IS: 3535 - 1986)
PROCEDURE:
1. In a 250ml measuring jar pour the sand until it reaches the 200ml
2. Then fill the cylinder with water and stir the sand well (The water shall be sufficient to submerge the sand completely)
3. Now the sand surfaces will be below its original level
4. Then note the level of sand as "y"
